The naturalistic rendering and attention to detail, including the delicate play of light on feathers and bark, reflect the influence of the European still-life tradition. Signed “Fortunio” lower right, this work belongs to the circle of artists who specialized in small-format game paintings popular in the late 18th and 19th centuries.
