Cabinet of Cures: Six 19th Century Apothecary Jars
A fine set of six 19th century cylindrical porcelain apothecary jars (pharmacy Jars), each with a domed lid and gilt finial knop. The white ground bodies are decorated with hand-painted red and gilt scroll cartouches bearing Latin pharmaceutical inscriptions, including Pulv. Cass., Ung. Episp., Cass. Fistul., Dent. L. Lacrym., Manna, and Cerat. Calend.
Each jar is further accented with gilded bands at the rims and bases, the restrained neoclassical decoration reflecting traditional European pharmacy wares of the 19th century. The painted labels indicate medicinal preparations typical of period dispensaries, enhancing their historical and decorative appeal.
