Large Deconstructed Brown Crab (Cancer Pagurus) Under a Custom Glass Case.
Cancer pagurus, also referred to as the brown crab or edible crab, is a crab species discovered in the North Sea, North Atlantic Ocean, and potentially the Mediterranean Sea. This resilient crab showcases a reddish-brown hue and features an oval carapace with a distinctive "pie crust" border, along with black claw tips.
The deconstruction technique invented by anatomist Edmé François Chauvot de Beachêne in France in the 19th century involves the meticulous disassembly of all the components of a skull or crustacea. In this case, the pieces are re-articulated and positioned in an exploded array on a copper wire support. This is the same technique as the anatomical drawings of Leonardo da Vinci.
