Fakir, English Thoroughbred Stallion – Early 20th-Century Patinated Bronze
“Fakir, English Thoroughbred Stallion” – Patinated Bronze on Leafy Terrace, French, Early 20th Century
A finely modelled bronze of a poised Thoroughbred titled Fakir étalon anglais on the integral oval base, its surface chased with ferns and grasses that anchor the horse in a naturalistic setting. The stallion stands square, head slightly lowered, every vein and muscle crisply rendered beneath a rich, chocolate-brown patina that shows subtle coppery highlights on the high points. Cast in the Animalier tradition, the piece reflects the early-1900s Parisian taste for racing and stud champions, yet remains unsigned—typical of small-atelier foundry work of the period. Excellent condition with only the faintest rubbing to the extremities; no dents, repairs, or losses. Dimensions: 16 ½ in W × 8 in D × 12 ¼ in H (approx. 42 × 20 × 31 cm). An elegant, true-to-life study that brings quiet power to desk, mantel, or vitrine.
