Eglomisé Gold Italian Apothecary Jar 24" Tall from the 19th Century
Very Large 19th century églomisé gold Italian apothecary jar. Translated to "Ancient Pharmacy of the Discalced Carmelites Crocus". A large pharmacy jar used by the Order of the Discalced Carmelites of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, a sect of catholic friars and nuns founded in 1562. The jar is labeled crocus, which translates to saffron which is one of the oldest known medicinally used herbs.
